The Ivy Forest Greetings from Mableton, GA ※ United States

My latest FO, Rooty using Malabrigo Worsted ♥ This was such a fun knit, and pretty quick, too! I love the split at the back form the brim, it gives room for all of my hair, or room for a ponytail to stick out. I’ll definitely be making more of these in the future!

I also had way too much fun making the pom pom XD I love pom poms, so fun!

Aw, Window Cat, you are so cute! ♥ I can’t wait to make a bunch of little Window Kittens to hide around the store!

Almost forgot to add my boss’ Giant Window Cat! He’s so much fun to hug :)

I recently finished my first pair of knitted socks, hooray! The first one flew by and off my needles in record time, but the second kind of dragged along, slowly, slowly… But, I took it along with me on a camping trip this past weekend, and managed to finish them up!

I found this yarn at Big Lots (a discount store) a few months ago, and figured the time was right to knit my first socks. The yarn is actually not too bad, considering it was a dollar a skein. Not particularly soft, but still squishy and durable- I think it’d make excellent boot socks. I like all the colors and stripes it has! I’m a little sad I decided to go with ribbing on these, since it breaks up the patterned stripes, but it still looks alright.

They are a little bit mismatched… When I started the first one, it didn’t occur to me to go ahead and start a slip knot in the same place on the second skein I had, for the second sock.  Lesson learned!

The pattern I used is Lifestyle Toe-Up Socks, with a 3x2 ribbing across the top of the foot, and up the ankle/leg. For one, I used DPNs, and for the other, I learned Magic Loop, which I have to say- I really love! I’m also really quite fond of how this pattern presented all the information needed, and how easily customizable it is- I really enjoyed being able to try my socks on while knitting them! Now, I just have to learn two-at-a-time for my next pair~

(Also, I really need to find a small rug and figure out better lighting for when I take photos of my feet and legs! The lighting situation in my craft room is pretty tragic, and the floor is covered with thread 97% of the time…)

I really cannot believe it took me so long to finish this project… I started this in August 2010. Wow. I had started it, then got carried away starting other new projects, and never returned, until last weekend. I pulled it out since I needed a car project, and finished it in record time. Well, I’m glad it’s finally complete!

My project is Raveled here, the pattern is Kink by Jodie Gordon Lucas.

This week, I decided to start knitting my first socks. And I discovered shortly after beginning, working with 2.25mm needles is a pain in the wrist (haha).
Actually, it was the top of my hand that was being bothersome! So strange~ But, I’m almost done with the first sock, and so far, so good!

One of my first ‘big’ projects I did, and first real shawl. Well, I guess it’s actually a ‘shawlette’, given it’s small size.

For this I used Patons Lace in Patina- I didn’t have to do anything special to get the striping to come out so nice. Just casted on and started knitting :) I love it when a yarn and pattern work together so nicely!

When I got my new interchangeable needle set, I immediately had to cast something on, so I decided to knit a cute hat out of some random yarn I had stashed around. I think it’ll be perfect for cool weather burns!

A cute little set of mitts and a matching bow I made sometime last year. I found this yarn on Etsy, and while the colors aren’t something I normally go for, I just had to have it. So fun and cheerful and sweet, it kind of reminds me of Fruity Pebbles (a sugar cereal). I paired it with some black yarn to toughen it up a bit, and I love the result.
