The Ivy Forest Greetings from Mableton, GA ※ United States

Oooh, long time, no post. It’s been a busy few weeks leading up to the holidays!

I knitted this 198 Yards of Heaven as a gift for a friend. I originally was going to use the yarn for fingerless mitts, but had too many screw ups, and just ended up going with this pattern. While the FO turned out just fine for a gift, I’m definitely not going to go with 198 Yards again- I did like how fast it went, but I really didn’t enjoy knitting it, and felt like the pattern was poorly laid out and explained.

Anyway, I used Madelinetosh Vintage in Duchess and Venetian, both beautiful colors! Not totally in love with Vintage, it doesn’t quite have the same softness that Tosh DK does, but it’s still really great yarn.

Hooray, finished another shawlette! It’s another Summer Flies, with modifications, using Malabrigo Worsted Merino in Damask. My project is Raveled here if you’re into that kind of thing ;)

I love this pattern so much! It’s so easy to modify to be exactly what you want, and very forgiving if you happen to make mistakes. Though I always forget how much I loath knitting 400 stitch rows, ha. I’m happy it’s done :)

Now, on to holiday gift knitting! How many pairs of fingerless gloves can I make? Let’s find out!

Working on a knotted openwork scarf in Shibui’s new laceweight yarn, Cima ♥ It’s a lovely yarn, I am really enjoying working with it!

One of my first ‘big’ projects I did, and first real shawl. Well, I guess it’s actually a ‘shawlette’, given it’s small size.

For this I used Patons Lace in Patina- I didn’t have to do anything special to get the striping to come out so nice. Just casted on and started knitting :) I love it when a yarn and pattern work together so nicely!

My project is Raveled here. Pattern is Sumer Flies from Holly & Ella Knits.

A sweet pair of eyelet hand warmers I made for a friend for her birthday! I wanted to use a yarn with some sparkle, so I chose Red Heart Shimmer… I hope to never work with it again!

The result came out lovely, with lots of sparkle as I wanted, but working the yarn itself was enough to make me want to cry.

My project is Raveled here, the pattern is Diagonal Eyelet Hand Warmers from Creative Yarn.

Fresh off my needles, a pair of leg warmers… Not exactly perfect for this 80°F weather we’re having, but they’re awfully cute. I’ll be ready for fall!

I love wearing headbands, and other hair accessories. They can really make an outfit just pop! Knitting lace headbands is addicting- I get to try out new patterns, but it’s not too much of a commitment like larger pieces.

This one is from February Lady Lace Headband, a wonderful pattern for beginners looking to start practicing K2Tog (Knit Two Together), SSK (Slip Slip Knit), and YO (Yarn Over). I really enjoy the pattern since the repeats are so easy to memorize- this makes a great ‘quick gift’.
